San Telmo Neighbourhood Free Tour
Tour Details
We'll begin this free tour of the San Telmo neighbourhood at the entrance of the Franciscan Museum of Monseñor Fray José María Bottaro, on Calle Adolfo Alsina, 400, next to the Basilica of Saint Francis. Here, we'll start exploring some of the most historic corners of the neighbourhood.
After admiring the Basilica, we'll head to Saint Ignatius of Loyola's Church to learn about Buenos Aires' Jesuit history.
Next, we'll see Casa de Rosas, an emblematic historic house, before making our way to the Convent of Saint Dominic, where we'll visit the Mausoleum of Manuel Belgrano—a monument that underwent extensive restoration.
From there, we'll head to the famous Mafalda statue. Cameras at the ready? Taking a picture with her is a must!
We'll then visit Casa Mínima, the narrowest house in Buenos Aires, packed with history and fun stories. After that, we'll stroll past El Viejo Almacén, one of San Telmo's most important tango venues, and learn all about this iconic cultural movement.
Our journey continues with a stop at the San Telmo Market, where we'll taste some handmade dulce de leche, a true local delight.
We'll also visit the Church of San Pedro Telmo, the principal church of the neighbourhood, named after its patron saint. Along the way, we'll pass other iconic spots such as La Estrella Pharmacy and Ávila Bookshop, adding some historic flavour to our walk.
Finally, we'll end at Dorrego Square, the heart of San Telmo, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 2 hours.
